How does scanning work without an app?
Point any phone's camera at the QR code on your tag. It opens a page in your browser — no download, and no account is needed to send a message.
Is my phone number ever visible?
No. Messages relay through ShieldTag in both directions. The person who scanned your tag never sees your number, and you never see theirs unless you choose to reply.
What if someone spams my tag?
Open your dashboard and pause the tag. Scans stop reaching you immediately — turn it back on whenever you're ready.
How do I claim a tag?
Scan the QR code on a new tag, then follow the wizard: enter your name and vehicle, verify your phone number with a text code, and you're set up.
Can I move the tag to another car?
Yes. The tag is tied to your account, not the vehicle — update your vehicle details from the dashboard any time you switch cars.
What does it cost?
Anonymous messaging is free, forever — there's nothing to buy to stay reachable. ShieldTag Plus adds live masked calls, WhatsApp, and video for $6.99 the first year, then $14.99/yr, once those channels launch.
What's the difference between Free and Plus?
Free covers what most people need today: anonymous two-way messaging with quick presets, notify-on-scan, a contact log, and blocking or pausing your tag. Plus adds live masked voice calls, SMS, WhatsApp, and video, plus approval-gated contact, multiple recipients, and a document vault — coming soon.
How does cancelling Plus work?
One click, any time. Cancelling downgrades your account to Free — your tag keeps working for anonymous messaging, it's never disabled. First purchases (annual, Family, or Lifetime) are covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee.
What if it's an emergency?
Call 911 first for anything urgent. ShieldTag is not a substitute for 911 — reaching the owner through a tag is best-effort, not guaranteed, so use it alongside emergency services, never instead of them.
How do replacements work?
If your tag is lost, damaged, or stops scanning, email us and we'll help you get set up with a new one.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings in your dashboard and use Delete account in the danger zone. You'll need to type DELETE to confirm. Deleting is different from cancelling Plus: cancelling just downgrades you to Free, while deleting purges your data and deactivates the tag — it can't be undone.
